A Delicate Craftsmanship  

A detail of Venice that always fascinated me is the architectural tracery of the Palazzo facades. An intricate stone lacework which, unlike other European examples, not only supports stained glass, but also the facade itself. 

It makes the buildings appear visually lighter, while allowing ventilation and natural light to enter the interior. The Doge's Palace and Casa d'Oro, with Gothic, Byzantine and Moorish influences, are two of the most elaborate examples. 

Artistry Materialised in Silk

The design of THE VENETIAN is a synthesis of some of the most powerful symbols of Venetian architecture. The Republic of Venice was a city of diversity. Byzantine, Islamic and Moorish influences are evident in the stone tracery of the facades of historic palazzos on the Grand Canal, depicted on the design of the border. The quatrefoil is a symbol of harmony and good luck that became an emblem of Venetian patterns. Vivid colours are the expression of wealth and power of a city with ambition and the courage to explore.
